Long Point Recreation Area is a great place to fish for Largemouth Bass. During the winter and early spring, bass is drawn to water breaks near rock or bridge abutments and can be caught on shad-patterned crankbaits, curly tail grubs, or spinnerbaits. As the water warms, the bass move to humps and points and are often seen taking topwater baits.
The lake is also home to abundant populations of Channel Catfish, which can be targeted using cut bait, prepared stink baits, or jigs. Crappies also thrive at the lake, with black and white crappie congregating in submerged structures such as brush piles and bridge pilings.
Other recreational opportunities abound around the 5,600-acre reservoir, including swimming, boating, and water skiing. There are also hiking/biking trails and a children’s playground.
